The Hangar Lofts

724 S Edisto Ave, Columbia, SC 29205
Overview
Are you a lover of many different types of design? If so, then Hangar Lofts is your perfect boutique hotel, as you’ll find a delightful and eclectic mix of modern, industrial, mid-century, and more. Think concrete floors and red brick meets sleek furniture and shiny pops of color.

But long before these modern designer touches made an appearance, the building used to be airplane hangars that serviced Columbia’s downtown airport. Eventually, the business was abandoned and fell into disrepair until it was scooped up by a lover of architecture and design with a cool eye for style.

Each guest loft is different from the next, but expect to find details such as exposed brick walls, colorful steel beams, concrete floors and countertops, and modern Baltic birch custom cabinets. As you’d expect, the lofts are very open and feature high ceilings. The ceilings are accented with funky aluminum ductworks as an added surprise. In contrast to the industrial touches, the lighting is soft, perfect for a relaxing evening.

You’ll surely get a good night’s sleep on the locally-crafted platform bed with a plush mattress, luxurious sheets, and goose down comforters. Plus, you’ll start the day off right with fresh coffee and fruit, juices, and energy bars for a day of exploring the city. And exploring is easy at Hangar Lofts, as it’s located about 1.5 miles from the bustling downtown–far enough to enjoy the peace and quiet, yet close enough for plenty of adventures.

Be sure to check out the nearby Hunter-Gatherer Brewery and Alehouse, a huge pub complete with a taproom, brewhouse, a bottling and a kegging line, event space, and an observation deck that overlooks the airport runways. Back in the day, the airfield hosted the likes of famous Aviators such as Amelia Earhart and Jimmy Doolittle.
